The surgery itself was technically successful, but it marked only the beginning of another battle. On May 30th, during a follow-up checkup, doctors discovered a stage 2 pressure ulcer had formed. Even worse, necrosis had begun to develop, causing Filip excruciating pain and placing him at risk of severe complications.
As a mother, watching him suffer is unbearable. The constant hospital visits, the pain he endures, and the fear of what may happen next weigh heavily on my heart. Travel costs, medications, specialist consultations, and specialized supplies continue to add up to overwhelming sums.

When he arrived, he was promptly referred to a cardiology clinic due to cardiac hypertrophy and a congenital defect called coarctation of the aorta.
His tiny legs were blue, a sign that urgent surgery was needed. That moment was critical—any delay could have caused oxygen deprivation or, in the worst case, cost him his life. From the very first day, Filip’s survival depended on rapid, precise medical intervention.
Just a year later, he suffered his first seizure. Doctors discovered a 2.5-centimeter cyst on his head, requiring surgery and further hospital stays. Every new test brought anxiety, every appointment reminded us of the fragile balance keeping him alive.
Over the following years, Filip’s medical history grew more complex. He developed dermatological pigmented lesions, small skin cancers, gastric reflux, hypertension, autism, and asthma. Every diagnosis felt like a new blow, and our lives became consumed with hospital visits, specialist consultations, and treatments.
Even now, Filip requires continuous care from multiple specialists. Immunologists, gastroenterologists, urologists, cardiologists, and genetic counselors all monitor him closely. Hospitals have become, in many ways, our second home. But Filip is a child who longs to play, run, and explore freely, like every other child his age.
The challenges are relentless. Recently, he developed muscle spasms and severe epileptic seizures. We are currently waiting for an MRI to determine the full severity of these symptoms, hoping for answers and solutions.
Filip’s next surgery is scheduled for May, on his birthday. It is a bittersweet moment, a reminder of the sacrifices and courage demanded by his condition. Every procedure, every treatment, comes with risks, and yet he faces them with remarkable bravery.
Despite everything, Filip remains extraordinarily strong. Even when in pain, he smiles at his family and shows resilience beyond his years. Every small milestone, every moment of comfort, feels like a triumph over a lifetime of medical challenges.
